I grew up in an Air Force family, living and traveling all around the world. My little brother was born in Guam. My parents settled in Rapid City, South Dakota near monuments Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse in the Black Hills. My Dad retired after 20 years of service in the Air Force. In school, I developed a love for learning languages. I studied in Spain for a year and Mexico for 7 months. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish language studies from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. During the summers, I took seasonal jobs in the National Park Service, Wind Cave in SD and Carlsbad Caverns in NM. After college, I moved to Winter Park, CO for a winter seasonal job selling lift tickets. There I met my best friend Fred, and a year later, we tied the knot. We hiked 14ers, adopted my first dog, a blue pit bull and started careers. 6 years later, Fred and I had a son Freddie. I worked at a hospital in Supply Chain. I always had a connection with my departments, and found the thousands of supplies fascinating. 13 years later, I pursued a new career something that had the flexibility to focus more on my family.
Fast forward to now. I work for positive change in my life, and to actively help others. I want to show we all have value to bring to the table.
My inspiration, "Show value, and spread kindness!” I feel it is crucial to show people they are valued and spreading kindness is essential, especially for elementary students who are starting to find their own path.
