Standards-Based Grading

Standards-based grading (SBG) is being used in all elementary schools across the Five Star District.

Standards-based grading is a grading practice within a broader standards-based instructional system where teachers collaborate together to understand what content students know and what they need to be able to do in order to meet or exceed state standards.

SBG FAQs:  COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT STANDARDS-BASED GRADING

For more information on SBG, please visit the Adams 12 SBG Webpage and reference the attached documents below.  Included are rubrics (GRC: Gradebook Reporting Criteria) that provide you with important information regarding how your child's mastery of a given subject can be measured according to SBG. The photo below depicts a general analogy between SBG and riding a bike.

Adams 12 report cards come out by semester; winter (December) and spring (May).   A Family's Guide to Standards and Report Cards was given to parents/guardians at back-to-school nights/open houses.
