Principal Update-May 15, 2020

Dear Arapahoe Ridge Families,

Yearbook Delivery

We have been in contact with the company that produces our yearbook and currently our yearbook is still in production due to a covid shutdown of the business that prints the books.  We were hoping to have it in time to distribute during the student item pick up next week, but unfortunately that will not be possible.  We do not yet have a delivery date to share with you.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Student Belongings Pickup - Tuesday, May 19th 8am-4pm

There will be no student or parent access to our building.  There will not be a collection of district-shared electronic devices at this time. However, if you are not planning to return to a district school for the 2020-2021 school year, please bring your district-shared device during your scheduled drop off/pickup.

If you will be keeping your device(s) for the summer, please continue to safeguard and care for your device. These items will be collected at some point in the next school year.

A few important notes about the pick-up protocol:

  • Pick-up times are alphabetized by family last name.

  • In order to keep the process moving efficiently, please plan to arrive as close to your pick-up time as possible.

  • If you have children with different last names attending the school, you will be able to pick up items for these students at the same time.

  • Tuesday will be the only opportunity for student item pickup.

  • All lost and found items will remain at the school and we will keep them for retrieval this Fall.

Bell Time Change for the 2020-2021 School Year

Before mid-March, when COVID-19 changed how we go about our business, we were nearing the end of a year-long planning and engagement process that contemplates changing bell times at our elementary, middle and high schools. One thing has become clear through this process - there is no perfect solution and any decision comes with tradeoffs. The goal was to find the solution that creates the most benefit for the entire Five Star District, which is why Superintendent Chris Gdowski has accepted the recommendation of the Bell Schedule Steering Committee to push bell times 30 minutes later pending the resumption of normal operations for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. Read more about the decision.
