Dear Arapahoe Ridge Families,
Thank you all for another wonderful year at Arapahoe Ridge. I would like to provide some final updates before we head out for summer and some dates to add to your calendar for August!
Many of you have heard that Mrs. Marilyn Robbins has decided to retire after 32 years of service to Adams 12 schools. Marilyn has been a Kindergarten teacher at Arapahoe Ridge since we opened. We are so excited for Marilyn and her new endeavors. She will be dearly missed. We know she won’t be far away and will be back to visit us often!
Cathy Martin will assume the full time kindergarten classroom for 16-17 and Heather Weber who has been teaching 2nd grade for the past nine years has decided to make a change and will teach our half day kindergarten classes. We have hired Mrs. Kim Jones, a 13 year veteran in Adams 12 to fill Heather Weber’s position in second grade.
We are excited to announce that we are also bringing Mrs. Deborah Blake on board as our learning specialist and Mrs. Bethany Morray as one of our 4th grade teachers. Both teachers come highly recommended from their current schools and we look forward to having them as part of the Arapahoe Ridge community.
Our office will be closed Friday, June 10th - Thursday, August 4th
We will reopen for registration on Friday, August 5th. Enrollment packets may be picked up at Arapahoe Ridge or you can print them at www.adams12.org. Returning current Arapahoe Ridge students who will be in grades 1-5 next year are not required to register for 2016/17.

Please visit our website at http://arapahoe.adams12.org/. On the upper right corner you can find a link to Supply Lists to see what school supplies your child will need for August.
We will post your child’s teacher assignment for the school year at 4 pm on Monday, August 15th just prior to our Back to School Night event.
Monday, August 15th - Back to School Night from 4-6 pm. Please bring your child’s school supplies and come meet your new teacher.
Tuesday, August 16th - First Day of School
Bell Schedule/Start Time for 2016-2017
For the 2016-17 school year, we will continue the 7:35 a.m. instructional start time for the entire year. The first bell will ring at 7:30 allowing students to enter the building. The tardy bell will ring at 7:35, and students are expected to be in their classrooms by this time. This will also adjust P.M. kindergarten start time to 11:25 a.m. on Mon., Tues., Thur., Fri., and 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday.
Instructional time starting at 7:35 a.m. will help with the following:
Provides three built-in snow days to the school calendar. If a fourth snow day is needed, May 12, 2017 would be repurposed from a teacher work day to a make-up student instructional day.
Allows teachers and staff to continue their vital professional development and planning work throughout the year to make your child’s learning a success.
Provides minimal impact to bus and transportation schedules across all grade levels.
Further details on the morning schedule for next year, including drop-off times and bus schedules, will be released before the start of school in the fall. This solution is for the 2016-17 school year. We will evaluate next year if further changes are needed for the 2017-18 and future school years.
Fundraising Thank You!
Thank you so much to our community for the numerous contributions made to our school through fundraising. I wanted to share how our school has spent fundraising dollars this year and the impact for students. We have several opportunities for fundraising at Arapahoe Ridge. PTO opportunities include our Fall Fundraiser (catalog sales), Dine for Dollar Nights, Box Tops for Education, Skate City, Spirit Wear Sales and our Holiday Shop. School based fundraising opportunities are the spring Fun Run, Target sales where a percentage of purchases come back to the school and Milk Caps for Moolah.
PTO and school based fundraising efforts are spent in several ways. We use money to host free community events for all families, support student recognition, staff appreciation, conference meals and purchase instructional materials. A letter was sent home with you child’s report card with an itemized list of what we spent fundraising dollars on this year.
Many of the items we purchase are tangible items that need to be replaced each year. We are extremely proud and thankful to share that we raised almost $9800 at our Fun Run this year! The funds raised at our Fun Run this Spring will pay for the following items next year:
$500 per grade level will be allocated to pay for buses for one field trip
$500 per grade level will be allocated to pay for their grade level magazine subscriptions
$3800 will be spent to purchase another 10 chromebooks, 3 ipad minis for kindergarten and 1 classroom computer replacement
For the 16-17 school year we will continue with our fundraising efforts. Our PTO will be having our annual catalog fundraiser in the Fall and our Fun Run in the spring. We are also hoping to expand our school garden to include a seating area and additional planting space. A seating area, constructed out of sandstone boulders, will allow classrooms to congregate comfortably in the garden. An additional four garden beds will allow us to plant an even larger variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers each year. Please look for fundraising opportunities that will specifically support our garden! Thank you again for supporting our students and staff at Arapahoe Ridge.
