3rd Grade News
Mrs. Knudson’s Class

Welcome back! It is always a very fun, exciting time when school starts again. This year, your 3rd grader will be very busy continuing his or her learning journey. Here at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary, we value every student and strive to help each student grow. I am excited to be here for my second year, although I have been teaching elementary in public schools since the 2006-07 year. My time has been spent in either 3rd or 4th grade classrooms. I look forward to a great year!

Homework Expectations

Students will have a monthly reading log. Reading is so important to the continued success of your student. Please encourage your student to read at least 20 minutes a night and record it on the reading log calendar. Please sign at the end of the month and send back to school.  Students will also have weekly spelling lists to study at home. New words will go home on Mondays and tests will be on Fridays. Math homework will go home each day and need to be returned the next day. Occasionally, a lesson will require more than one day, so on those days, some type of review homework will go home. Over the weekend, the only homework is reading.

Behavior Expectations

Students are expected to follow the Arapahoe Ridge Elementary behavior expectations. The school is a safe place where learning takes place, and any behavior that interferes with that will not be tolerated. In my classroom, I use an online behavior management system called Class Dojo. You will receive a code that will allow you to log on and monitor your student’s daily behavior. Positive behavior is reinforced through schoolwide Paw Prides. If a student is not following behavior expectations, they will receive a warning with the loss of a Dojo point. If the behavior continues, parents or guardians will be contacted regarding the behavior and the student will complete a “think sheet”.  An office referral will be used if behavior continues or immediately if the behavior risks the safety of other students.
