Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books club is open to all 5th grade students.  It is offered to 4th grade students by teacher invitation only.  Members of the club will meet for an hour (2:30 - 3:25) twice a month from November to May.  Students are asked to read at least 5 of a set of 10 books and write 8 questions for each book they read.  Questions come in the format of “In which book did…” During the meetings we discuss how to write questions, explore the books and themes, and participate in practice battles.  At the end, the winning team from our school will go to the District Battles to compete against other schools across the district.

Dates: 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/19, 1/9, 1/23, 2/6, 2/20, 3/12, 3/19, 4/2, 4/9; one meeting before district battle with winning team; the district battle TBD; one lunch celebration meeting
